Dr. Elby Nash

Dr. Elby Nash has been a senior IT executive, management consultant, andtechnology innovation leader in the life sciences and financial services industries forover 30 years. Dr. Nash has worked with executive business and technologymanagement of many of the FORTUNE 100 firms as a senior consultant ontechnology-enabled business transformation. Dr. Nash is a successful practitioner inthe fields of digital strategy, emerging technologies, enterprise innovation and thedevelopment and deployment of state-of-the-art mobile and wireless solutions forthe life sciences industry.

During his tenure at Cognizant Technology Solutions, a global provider of IT servicesand solutions, Dr. Nash collaborated with senior executives of top ten globalhealthcare, pharmaceutical, and medical device firms to frame the strategic andoperational dimensions of connected health and enterprise mobile collaborativesolutions. As a hands-on entrepreneur and expert in wireless and mobile solutions,he led major initiatives to develop the digital strategy and deliver an integratedmulti-modal (e.g., haptics) mobile solution for medical and scientific informationcollaboration among field and regional scientists in the U.S, European Union andAsia-Pacific. This mobile platform dramatically improved their responsiveness tooncologist inquiries and drove dramatic improvement of relationships withoncologists leading to increased preference by Key Opinion Leaders for this firm’soncology products and significantly increased revenues.

At Prudential, Dr. Nash led the global IT Strategy function for the investment andsecurities side of this global leader’s organization during a period of significantchange in the financial services and securities industry. In this role, he wasresponsible for the development and global deployment of a global business-ITplanning and strategy alignment methodology that enabled Prudential to federalizeits inefficient and costly (> $1B annual IT spend) IT organization and budgetingmodel. In its first year of deployment, this new methodology identified over $150MMin duplicate IT initiatives as well as opportunities for alternative business-ITinvestments to improve Prudential’s competitive position.

Dr. Nash has been a speaker at industry conferences on technology transformationtopics including IT strategy, deploying wireless and mobile technology competitivebusiness advantage as well as the relationship between business-IT strategyalignment and its relationship to industry profitability.

Dr. Nash has extensive experience as a graduate lecturer for accredited courses onIT strategy and IT organization management and has developed and deliveredgraduate level courses to academic and business audiences on current relevanttopics including the management of emerging technologies and digital innovation.Dr. Nash is the co-author of a graduate textbook on managing IT organizations andwas an associate professor for over 10 years at Stevens Institute of Technology’sWesley J. Howe School of Technology Management.
